Do I need a prescription, script, or physician's referral?
We do not require a referral or prescription for you to be seen on your first visit by one of our licensed physical therapists for an evaluation. If you are having an issue and want to be seen immediately, we can help you with that. If you do not have a referral but would like to receive a FREE body diagnostic screen, we can make that happen! Call us at 267-666-0184 or email us at info@perseverept.com to inquire about how to set this up.
What do I do if I want to be seen by a physical therapist but I don't have a referral?
The only thing we require is the contact information of your physician or doctor who saw you last for your condition. Our team will reach out to them to ensure that you will receive a referral for physical therapy so you can get the care you need.
If you do not have a primary care physician, we can refer you to our trusted network of physicians who will evaluate you and provide a referral for physical therapy, if deemed appropriate.
What can I expect on my first visit?
We highly recommend all of our patients to arrive to their appointments with a change of clothes. The outfit you bring should be comfortable and allow you to move freely while also allowing the therapist access to palpate and examine your body. We recommend our male patients to bring a tank top if they have a shoulder or neck injury. For our female patients, we recommend a sports bra. If you have hip, knee, or ankle pain, please bring shorts to allow for visualization of your movement. If you are a runner, bring your running shoes and be prepared to be barefoot!
During your treatment session, we will not leave you on a bike to watch tv as we go treat another patient. You will not be given a heat pack or left on shoulder pulleys while we document for twenty minutes. We value your time. Expect to get a full, uninterrupted one-hour session where we can go through all the exercises, lifestyle modifications, and treatment techniques necessary to get you feeling better on day one.
At Persevere Physical Therapy, we value and understand that everyone is an individual. We don't treat the impairment here; we treat the patient. Our therapists will take their time evaluating your entire body to find the root cause of your pain and how to address them. You will walk away from the first treatment session with a deeper understanding of your injury as well as specific exercises that will help you return to an active lifestyle as soon as possible.
How many visits will it take for me to feel better?
Physical therapy is not a "magic" solution to your pain. There are no "quick fixes" in life and you should expect to put in some work. With that being said, most of our patients feel a significant change within the first few visits. After your pain is under control, the real work begins! This is where we can work on introducing more weights to movements like the deadlift or squat.
It is impossible to provide you with the exact number of visits you need without seeing you in person. Every individual is unique and so is their pain, stressors, and mindset. We ideally like to see our patients once a week for eight visits and we can give you a more detailed plan once you are in the clinic. This is why we offer the FREE Body diagnostic screen as an introduction, no strings attached experience. We want you to have a clear understanding of what is going on and how long it may take before you commit to becoming our patient.
Do I need to be seen in-person?
We know times are tough right now, especially with Covid-19. If you do not feel comfortable visiting us at our clinic location or having home visits, we have a solution for you! We have just implemented a new telehealth platform which allows you to receive physical therapy from the comfort of your home. The only requirement of you is that you have access to a webcam through your phone or laptop.
Although there are some conditions that are better to be seen in person, we have seen great results through the people we have treated virtually! If in-person meetings are of concern to you, please discuss this with your therapist during your evaluation and we can work together to find the best solution for you.
Where are you located?
We primarily see all of our clients in the comfort of their own home. This is what makes us a concierge clinic. We also currently have a brick and mortar clinic location at 1607 W Susquehanna Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19121 which is only a few blocks away from Temple University and the Broad Street line if you prefer to be seen in-person.
